On 7 March 2017 the Migration Law Clinic and the Dutch Council for Refugees organised a seminar called ‘Proving family ties in Eritrean family reunification cases’. During the seminar Dr. Gunter Schröder addressed the authenticity of Eritrean marriage certificates.

Dr. Yohannes Amanuel explained Eritrean marriage law: which kinds of marriages exist in Eritrea and how can they be proved?

Lena Reim spoke about the report ‘Niets is wat het lijkt’ (Nothing is what it seems to be) concerning the influence of the Eritrean government in the Netherlands, amongst others on Eritrean refugees.

Finally Rosa Coene, Elin Gafvelin, Veronica Otero and Francesca Rondine of the Migration Law Clinic presented their expert opinion “Bewijsnood”: a legal measurement or an unlawful procedural hurdle?
